We all get distracted and absent-minded sometimes, especially after a long day. But New York-based photographer Kurt Sneddon was really out of luck. He recently photographed a wedding and forgot the photos on an NYC subway train. It wouldn’t be too tragic if it wasn’t the only copy of the images. As he writes, he was “distracted and overwhelmed,” and he simply left the backpack with the photos behind. Now he is reaching out t the public via social media and flyers, trying to find the backpack and retrieve the precious photos....

During the recent Black Lives Matter protests, the terms “master” and “slave” seem to have suddenly become problematic. After Canon, we now find out that Nikon has changed the terminology in its products as well. Only it was actually long before Canon did it – way back in the early 2000s. “Master” and “slave” are the terms normally used when two different flash units are used simultaneously. The master unit controls the trigger of the slave unit, which is kinda self-explanatory....

Sometimes I watch movies or TV shows, and I miss important plot points because I’m trying to figure out how they did the lighting. I just find cinemagraphic lighting incredibly inspiring, and it’s always something I’d like to strive for in my stills photography. But looking at lighting diagrams, it always seems so complicated. I love to use just one light when I can, so you can imagine my delight when I spotted this excellent video tutorial from Armando Ferreira....
