Singapore photographer and Sony Ambassador Daryl Aiden Yow was recently busted for sharing stock photos and other people’s work as his own. Yow is particularly popular on Instagram, with 104K followers at the moment of writing this and plenty of gorgeous photos. But as it was revealed that the photos aren’t his, the story went viral and even Sony responded to it. Mothership reports that Yow is a “big player” in Singapore’s Instagram scene....

Sony Announces The 61 Megapixel A7R Iv With 15 Stops Of Dynamic Range

Sony’s live event has just come to a close and the earlier rumours were true. The Sony A7R IV is here. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any sign of an A7S III, but still. The A7R IV comes with a 61-megapixel sensor, 15 stops of dynamic range, 4K UHD video with 5-axis in-body image stabilisation (IBIS), with what Sony claims is “medium format level” image quality. The Sony A7R IV boasts compatibility with 52 native Sony E Mount lenses, and many of the specs and features we’d expect from Sony given what we’ve seen in the A7R III and A7 III....

Sony Japan Announces 14 Price Hike On Cameras Lenses And Other Products Coming On February 1St

Sony has announced a long list, covering pretty much every product type they make, that will see an average 14% price hike coming on February 1st. The company cites a range of factors, including the cost of raw materials, manufacturing and distribution – all “external environment” issues beyond their control – as the cause for the price increase. The company lists is Bravia TVs, Blu-Ray players and recorders, sound bars, home theatre systems, and more, including “digital single-lens camera, digital single-lens camera α [E-mount] lens, digital video camera, digital still camera, professional camcorders”....

Sony Switches Up From Xqd With New Super Tough 1 7Gb Sec Cfexpress Card

Hot on the heels of ProGrade Digital’s CFexpress announcement, Sony, too has announced that new CFexpress cards are coming. While Sony’s cards don’t come in the same high 1TB capacity as the ProGrade cards, they are even faster, offering up to 1700MB/sec read and 1480MB/sec write speeds. They’re also built to be rugged, falling under Sony’s “Tough” line of memory cards. Using the same form factor as XQD, CFexpress is set to become the new standard as the successor to both CFast and a drop-in replacement for XQD compatible devices – once the manufacturers of those devices release new firmware to support it....
