The popular Atomos Shinobi is essentially a Ninja V but without the built-in recorder, offering very similar features. Well, Atomos has now scaled up their Shinobi with the new Shinobi 7, with a larger and brighter 2,200 nits 7″ display, HDMI and SDI passthrough and HDR output conversion. Like the original Shinobi on which it builds, the Shinobi 7 is just a field monitor. There’s no built-in recorder, but it can monitor signals up to 4K 60p via HDMI or SDI for viewing, focus pullers, live stream and video switcher preview, or passing along to a separate recorder....

On Monday, the Pentagon released three declassified videos of “unexplained aerial phenomena”. That’s a fancy term for “UFOs”. The Guardian reports that the Pentagon released the footage to “clear up any misconceptions by the public” on whether or not the footage that had been previously leaked was genuine. It turns out that it was. The three clips are referred to as Flir, Go Fast and Gimbal, which are shown in the video above....

YouTubers have had the embargo lifted on the Sony A1 content and now they’re all coming out in force to go over their experiences using the new camera and giving their thoughts on how it stacks up against the competition – including the rest of Sony’s own product lineup. While there are brief mentions of the A1’s stills features, these reviews largely focus on their video capabilities. After all, when it comes to video, it does everything the video-centric A7S III does, and then some....

What I love about music videos is that they can show so much creativity in only a couple of minutes. Directing duo Jesse Lamar High and Nik Harper (LAMAR + NIK) created one of such videos for the song Half a Million by The Shins. It involves over 5500 hand cut stickers of the band members’ pictures, animated to show them perform in a number of crazy locations. It’s not a huge investment, yet the results are fantastic....

A few days ago, we had the chance to observe this year’s first “Blood Moon.” It’s the total lunar eclipse that makes the moon appear red, hence the scary name of the phenomenon. But other than red, our moon can appear to have many different colors. In a stunning composite image, Italian teacher and photographer Marcella Giulia Pace brought all colors of the moon together. From the usual greyish tones, all the way to yellow, deep red, blue, and even purple....
