Shooting interiors can be a lot of fun but also an extremely difficult challenge. Most rooms aren’t designed to be photographed. They’re often laid out all wrong for it, there’s stuff in the way of the shot, the colours and patterns don’t really match and it can be tricky to find the right angle to shoot from. Even if all those things do fall into line, interior lighting isn’t usually geared toward photography....

The “Brenizer method” isn’t exactly a new idea. In fact, it’s been around since before it was claimed by Ryan Brenizer. He was simply the one who made it popular. And we’ve covered it a few times before. But what is it? What does it do? And how do you do it? Essentially, it’s a way to simulate the look of a larger format sensor than that which is contained inside your camera....

I love shooting product photos and videos with the Aputure AL-MC. It’s such a versatile and powerful helper compared to its size. I use it on almost every product shoot. There’s only one thing that is not ideal and that’s the light spill. The MC has a super wide angle of light spread, so you will get light spilling onto your background unless you have a big studio where you can put the background system a few meters away from your scene....

As a filmmaker I come across many different types of cameras, lenses and of course all the peripherals that come with movie making. For commercial shoots I am currently shooting on a Canon C200 cinema camera using the Canon RAW lite codec. The results are incredible.
