Some time ago I did a project together with Mathieu Stern. Back then, we communicated via Skype. Because of that, I was super happy to hear, that I would finally get to meet him in person. We have heard it many times, “a dog is man’s best friend”. What is not so usual is that a dog and an owl can find common ground. German nature photographer Tanja Brandt has captured a unique series of images that depict a special relationship between the German shepherd dog, Ingo, and Poldi, an owl. Fortunately, animals do not suffer from prejudices and they do not discriminate based on gender, status, money, positions and so on....

Shooting stop motion animations or even timelapse can be difficult enough without adding something as already complex as light painting into the mix. Light painting just on its own can be something of a challenge when you’re trying to draw something for the camera over the course of a long exposure. Combining levels of technology from vastly different times is often very fascinating. Sometimes it’s amusing, and occasionally it fails miserable. This time, failure is definitely not the word that springs to mind. For this particular merging of devices, photographer Giles Clement mounted a large format camera to a drone. Why?
