Electronics company BenQ has released a new monitor designed for photo editors on a budget. The 24-inch 1080p SW240 display features 99% Adobe RGB coverage for accurate color reproduction. The SW240 is the newest in BenQ’s PhotoView series after the 31.5 inch SW320 and the 27 inch SW271 & SW2700PT. It may be small, and it may not have 4k UHD or QHD resolution, but judging from the specs, it still appears to be a highly capable tool....

File this under non-essential-but-interesting news. Reports are coming out that Instagram is potentially looking at implementing a black and white design throughout the entirety of their application. First reported by Anton Abramov via The Verge, a series of screenshots captured show off a monochromatic interface throughout the entirety of the Instagram iOS app. As expected, it appears this is merely an A/B testing result. In a comment to The Verge, an Instagram spokesperson said, ‘We often test new experiences with a small percentage of the global community […] This is a design test only....

When users started complaining about their content being shadowbanned, Instagram denied that the concept even existed. However, the app now admits that some accounts may be shadowbanned. In fact, it even tells you when it happens and what you can do to have your content visible again. “We know that, for many creators, having Instagram recommend your content is a great way to reach new fans and grow your audience,” Instagram writes in a statement....

In 2015, director Sean Baker and his crew created feature-length movie Tangerine. You may remember the movie, but also the story behind its creation, as it was filmed entirely with three iPhones. Now one of these iPhones is finding its way to the Academy Museum which opens in 2019, and it will honor the art and science of movies. Tangerine is a story about transsexual prostitute Sin-Dee whose friend tells her that her boyfriend (and pimp) was cheating on her....
