A few weeks ago, we told you about the new high speed slow motion camera, Chronos. Well, it went live on Kickstarter a couple of days ago, and was fully funded within just a few hours. And that number just continues to climb. With a CAN$65,000 (~$45,000) goal and 27 days left to go, it’s already reached a whopping CAN$187K (~$138,000). With frame rates ranging from 1,057fps to 21,649fps, it’s the first truly affordable ultra high speed slow motion camera out there....

One of the biggest issues for photographers and filmmakers working on location is that of power. Many of us carry spare batteries of multiple kinds in our bags whenever we go out to shoot – for me, that’s usually 6 batteries each for 2 cameras, a couple of big USB power banks and my Novoo. Maybe a few LiPo batteries if I need LED lights. But all of those are a hassle....

Atomos has released the v10.68 firmware update for the Atomos Ninja V+ monitor recorder. The update now allows you to record 8K ProRes RAW in the Ninja V+ from the HDMI signal coming out of the Canon EOS R5. Of course, you also have to install the latest Canon EOS R5 v1.4.0 firmware, too, also just released today (according to Atomos) or yesterday (according to Canon on Windows) or last week (according to Canon for Mac users)....

As their creators describe it, “Project Grand Shadows is a digital photography comic book project about a homeless man, outsider in our society, who gets recruited to an experiment that goes wrong”. It’s an interesting story, but what’s even more interesting is that they’re illustrating it with photos instead of drawings. Obviously the project is about telling the story, but it’s also about the journey of making the comic. The whole comics with photographs thing has been done before, but usually not very well....
