NASA’s OSIRIS-REx probe is tasked with the mission of obtaining a sample of 101955 Bennu, a carbonaceous near-Earth asteroid. Discovered in September 1999, Bennu has a 1-in-2,700 chance of hitting Earth at some point. But, if it does, it’ll happen long after we’re all gone at some point between 2175 and 2199. OSIRIS-REx arrived at Bennu in December 2018 after a two-year journey, and it just sent back a pretty interesting photo....

It’s so exciting to see the beginning of something new and beautiful. Thanks to NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, we can now see the once-hidden features of the birth of a new star. How exciting is that? Webb’s near-infrared camera captured the protostar within the dark cloud L1527. It looks like a fiery cosmic hourglass, and it’s absolutely magical. This “hourglass” is located within the Taurus star-forming region, and its features are only visible in infrared....

Nikon Imaging manager, Keiji Oishi has confirmed in an interview with DPReview that they are working on a new Z mount mirrorless flagship camera. Its goal is to beat the Nikon D6, it’s going to have a new high resolution stacked CMOS sensor and it’s going to be announced in 2021. Mr Oishi says that the new camera will be “a major technological leap for stills photographers”, although they’re not neglecting video and are considering powerful video features like 8K resolution footage in order to meet the demands of today’s market who are constantly demanding more, bigger, better, faster....

Earlier this year, RED filed a lawsuit against Nikon blaming them for illegally copying their video compression patent. Nikon announced the new version 2.0 firmware for the Nikon Z9, and RED claimed that Nikon illegally infringed on seven patents that deal with “a video camera that can be configured to highly compress video data in a visually lossless manner.” However, Nikon isn’t ready to give in without a fight. The company recently answered to RED’s accusations, claiming that they deny every allegation of the infringement....
